The development of the floral industry has gained significant prominence as an emerging sector within the global economy. Unlike in Spain, the use of metaphorical terms is far more common in Chinese floral markets. Our study is based on floral terms gathered through on-site research at four flower markets; we not only describe the metaphorical use of these terms but also classify them from a linguistic perspective, with the aim of better understanding the need for terminological standardization within the sector and in the international market.
